There are days where you just have to pinch yourself…. Is this really happening? How did I get here? Who are the people I need to thank?!! Auditioning for the Radio City Christmas Orchestra yesterday was definitely one of those days!! I just visited Scotland last week and showed my children where I grew up. Cannich is literally where all roads end!!! The journey my music has taken me on is absolutely extraordinary - 20 years in Asia and now opportunities exciting opportunities in the USA. However I believe it is more about the people…. My parents created every opportunity for me - driving me for hours for lessons, finding teachers who were a good match, sending me to boarding school then London. My teachers were all incredible warm super humans as well as inspiring harpists! They supported me and gave me the skills to be a well rounded musician and the confidence to broaden my network and just put myself out there! The fellow harpists who could have been so cut throat have all been angels… I’m fortunate to have been at music college with a special circle of talent but we always supported each other and shared the work. Moving to nyc has been incredibly intimidating after living in tiny Singapore for so long but the harpists I have met have ALL been just so encouraging and supportive!! And of course my friends and family who just make my life so full. WAGS who are sending messages from Asia and beyond, new friends in Darien, childhood friends and so many other special people- you all build me up so thank you for helping to make my life the rich tapestry that it has become. Really it’s not about the job, it’s the experience and the journey. I truly had the most exciting day!!! The icing on the cake was my connection with meeting the current Rockettes harpist who has inspired me through her insta posts over the past year as I’ve been finding my feet. How did I get here?…..hard work, yes that’s part of it but it’s also about just following the breadcrumbs, seizing every opportunity, believing anything is possible and surrounding yourself with good people!!! So THANK YOU to all the people who helped me on this journey- I’m loving the ride!!!! #thankyou
